[Accounting Classifications] Can I edit the accounting code classifications?

Users can select from a predefined set of classifications, or add a new classification manually or by uploading a CSV. Each classification in this predefined set is editable.

1. How to edit an accounting code classification

   In this example, we'll use the predefined Departments classification. The instructions here are applicable to other predefined classifications and any new custom account classifications you add.
   1. Click on Settings.
      
      
   2. Click on Application Preferences.
      
      
   3. In the Accounting classifications option, click on Manage.
      
      
   4. As a new user, your screen may look similar to the below screenshot. Our predefined accounting classifications are turned off by default and you can turn them on when accounting classification entities have been added.
      
      
   5. Lets manage the Departments classification. Click on Setup.
      
      Note: These steps are applicable to any account classification you want to manage.
      
      
   6. You can add a new entity by adding manually or uploading a CSV.
      1. Adding manually
         1. Click on New.
            
            
         2. A modal will appear. Enter in the details for your entity and click Save.
            
            
         3. Your entity is added.
            
            
      2. Uploading a CSV
         1. Click on Upload CSV and select Upload CSV. If you need a sample CSV file, select Download sample.
            
            
         2. Select the CSV file to upload to Profit. 
            
            
         3. Your data from your CSV is added.
            
            
   7. Now that there are entities in Departments. You can go back to Accounting classifications and toggle it on.
      

2. How to add your own custom classification 

1. On the Accounting classifications page, click Add field.
   
   
2. A modal will appear. Enter in the details for your custom account classification and click Add.
   
   
3. Your custom account classification is now added.
   
   

3. How to enable or disable an accounting classification 

1. Click on the toggle to enable or disable that accounting classification.
   
   
2. Your accounting classification will toggle off if it was on before and vice versa.
   
   
   
   Note: If you attempt to turn on an accounting classification that is empty, you will get a tooltip indicating that entries need to be added.
